I’ve actually been hoping that we might be able to emulate/evoke/flat-out-use this music when it comes to the office scenes in the Blue Sky podfic. XD But we’ll see.

So we had the read-through for the first chapter of Blue Sky today, and it went swimmingly. And by swimmingly, I mean that I can’t even wrap my mind around how talented this cast and crew is.
Seriously.
Recording can begin in earnest now, and then sound design and music composition. We’ve also got to figure out some sort of website to host this monster (any recommendations in that regard would be greatly appreciated).
None of us have done any of this before, and we’re just sort of figuring it out as we go. Chapter one in particular is an exercise in experimentation! But we’re hoping that things will get progressively smoother with each chapter, until we’ve got our process/schedule streamlined into something remotely predictable, and start to feel like we actually know what we’re doing. XD
In the meantime, take comfort in knowing that chapter one is this much closer to a set of speakers near you!
Hello everyone!
It’s been a while since the last update, but things are definitely moving. We’re in the process right now of scheduling a Skype session for a read-through of the first chapter, which will be happening sometime over this weekend.
We’re also ironing out who exactly on our sound team will be doing the voice editing for all the robotic voices.
Once these things are wrapped up we’ll start the actual recording, editing, composing, mixing!
Great fun. Big things ahead! We’ll keep you posted.
And finally, that moment you’ve all been waiting for… there would be an amazing speech here, but you want to know who gets the part and I am rather sleepy, so let us cut straight to the chase! How exciting :’)
The parts we now have for sure are as follows.
Narrator - peeperoonie
Wheatley -
It’s here! It’s here! It’s here!

Alright guys, I know it’s been a long time in coming, but the Blue Sky podfic cast announcement will definitely be posted today! So keep your eyes on the blog, and try not to pass out from anticipation.
This is so terribly exciting and wonderfully frightening!
THIS THING HAS THE MOST EPIC POTENTIAL. SERIOUSLY. A BRILLIANT POST-PORTAL2 FANFICTION CALLED ‘BLUE SKY’ IS BEING TURNED INTO A PODFIC (AN AUDIOBOOK, AS A PODCAST) WITH VOICE ACTORS AND EVERYTHING. AND HARRY101UK FROM YOUTUBE IS PLAYING WHEATLEY, WHICH MEANS MY LIFE IS PRETTY MUCH COMPLETE.
Speaking as one of the Co-producers of this project, I can tell you that there are some exciting things ahead. Besides Harry, we’ve got some other REALLY serious talent in our corner, and watching it all come together is a little bit surreal.

Sometimes I forget that these characters have more than six lines each. 8-I
Hi everyone! I realize it’s been pretty quiet from the Podsky quarter these past few days, so I thought I’d just give you an update as to what’s going on behind the scenes.
Basically two things:
Number 1 - Auditions are being gathered and organized into folders based on the roles they were for. As Mocha was the one that received most of your auditions in her e-mail, she’s the one doing this - despite having both the flu AND strep throat at the moment! D: Once they’ve all been gathered and pigeon-holed, we’ll go over each of them as a team and make our casting decisions. Ooo, exciting exciting!
And number 1, also, tied - We’re also going over the script for the first chapter, making notes on overall soundscapes, individual sound effects, and music to be added behind the narration and the dialogue. Whoosh, this is time-consuming. I think it’s coming together rather nicely though. Once that’s done we’ll send our notes to our crack team of sound designers and editors for their perusal. We’ve got some serious talent in our corner, folks, it’s very exciting to work with these people. At the same time, we don’t know how much we can ask of them or quite where each of their specialties lie, so that’s all got to be hammered out next.
Sooo, that’s pretty much it, you’re up to speed!
In view of the amazing response we’re getting to my Dad’s “Blue Sky” audition, I feel like I should let you all in on the story of how he came to be involved! Just a short story, don’t worry:
My sister and I went over to our parents’ house Sunday to do laundry, and we told them all about the…
Can I just say how incredibly envious I am of how amazing your family sounds? Good lord. I haven’t been able to talk to my parents about this kind of stuff- ever.
I tried to put fanfic into context for my father a few years back when I was in the Sherlock Holmes fandom, considering that Sherlock Holmes is pretty much in the public domain, and people have been publishing what is essentially fanfic of his adventures (slash fans, look up ‘My Dearest Holmes’ on Amazon) and sending fanletters to 221B Baker Street since the series was thought up. And then there’s ridiculous things like Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, and The Eyre Affair. Fandom is crazy and amazing and irrepressible.
But even though I was trying to show my father something I’d kept hidden from him my entire life, he didn’t get it. Instead, he asked me why I wasn’t coming up with original things on my own (answer: Because if I waited around for the original ideas to come, I’d never have any). My mother tried to get me to copyright my fanart (lolwat?).
You’re so, so, so lucky to have your parents who’d read the fanfic you recommend, and have a father who is willing to be as silly as that for himself and others. You’re so lucky that you’re able to sit your parents down and have them appreciate a game as a work of art and not a waste of time. Please hug your dad for me, because that’s a precious, precious thing.
Here’s hoping he makes the audition!
He’s a treasure all right. :-) But we’ve always loved this kind of thing, as a family. Every year we all participate in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and my Mom is actually the one who introduced us to the concept of fanfiction.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ll be sure and pass your message along to him.

In view of the amazing response we’re getting to my Dad’s “Blue Sky” audition, I feel like I should let you all in on the story of how he came to be involved! Just a short story, don’t worry:
My sister and I went over to our parents’ house Sunday to do laundry, and we told them all about the Podsky project that we’re co-producing with Mochadoodles.
To our delight, Mom and Dad were fascinated and excited by it. Dad was so taken with the idea that he seriously wanted to audition. He’s the kind of Dad who read to us constantly (when he wasn’t making up his own epic stories to tell us) and always did all the voices.
The only problem was that neither of our parents knew the story of Portal 2, having only seen it up to the point where GLaDOS wakes up and “kills” Wheatley. So yesterday my sister and I returned with our PS3 and we all sat down in the living room to watch Ridel play through Portal 2 so that our parents could have some context for the story! XD
They both really enjoyed it. Tee hee! So we left our hard-copy of Blue Sky, along with our microphone, with Dad and I sent him a list of characters I thought his voice might work for, along with some audition scripts. My brother also wants to audition for a part, so we might be hearing from him too.
And dat’s the story!
